South Shore Christmas Holiday Traditions

There are so many fun things to do from Boston to the Cape during the Christmas holiday season!

Ice Sculptures

Who doesn’t love ice sculptures! There are a couple neat ice sculpture displays this year in the city- Boston Harbor Now and First Night 2024.

Boston Harbor Now

Boston Harbor Now is taking place at Boston Harbor between East Boston and Boston’s North End December 31, 2023 11:59PM.
Suggested viewing locations are Harborwalk at Fan Pier, Christopher Columbus Park, and the East Boston waterfront.

The nearly 40-year tradition returns to Boston Harbor, made possible through generous support from local businesses, waterfront organizations, and the City of Boston.

First Night 2024

The Ice Sculptures make their dazzling return to First Night Boston this year and are located in City Hall Plaza. With a little luck you may catch the sculptors cut the ice into shape!

The iconic landmark ice sculptures will be available for public viewing from 12:00 noon to 12:30 AM on December 31. Dress Warm!

The Enchanted Village

What a fun day trip to make with your out of town guests! I am told you can still taste the magic of the Original Jordan’s Blueberry Muffins at Jordan’s Furniture. Purchase a few muffins to take home, yum!

Enchanted Village at Jordan’s Furniture in Avon is so much fun! Remember when you stood in line at Jordan Marsh, Downton Crossing?

The animated Enchanted Village is free and open in Avon through January 1st.

Edaville Railroad

Edaville Railroad Festival of Lights

Thursdays – Sundays, November 9 through December 31*

Take a magical train ride through the winter wonderland at Edaville Railroad.

Tents will be scattered throughout the park and you can stroll through the dazzling array of millions of lights, or shop for handmade gifts and treats, while awaiting a train or while the kids are on rides. Some of the vendors this year are:

Maine Street Bakery- yummy deserts!
Hippy Pilgrim – salts, seasonings and oils
Tara’s Fried Dough
Patty’s Patch – local produce and handmade goodies
KC’s Cafe- burgers and more
Cape Cod Candy Co.– old fashoined candy store
Sarcastic Swine BBQ – best barbecue!
Dockside Diner_ bar pizza and soups plus

Marshfield Merry All the Way!

Holiday Lights Community and Fundraising event hosted by the Marshfield Real Estate Cooperative supports Marshfield schools and students experiencing homelessness. A great time of year to show support! View the map of the 38 decorated homes.
