Discover the South Shore

A guide to life from Boston to the Cape

Welcome to the South Shore of Massachusetts

Your Guide to Life from Boston to the Cape!

We are Marj and Diane, friends and neighbors who live on opposite sides of Cedar Point in Scituate, who share interests in art, dogs, the ocean, dogs and dogs. We both own pet-friendly short-term rental properties here on the Point and have a combined 20+ years of experience in renting to guests from all over the world.

The jetty at Scituate Lighthouse, a must-see place when traveling from Boston to the Cape.

Our guests have many different reasons for staying here: weddings, funerals, class reunions, or just fun vacations in this unique area located between the city of Boston and the Cape Cod canal.

The South Shore has hundreds of short-term vacation rentals, fabulous sea food restaurants, mom and pop shops and luxury shopping – something for everyone!

We decided to compile a list of things to do, places to visit, annual events, good restaurants and dog-friendly venues. That list became our blog, giving our guests a guide to traveling from Boston to the Cape. Check our list of resources for getting here, staying here and traveling with pets.

So, instead of zooming right down Rte 3 South to the Cape and missing out on the rich history, cultural events and beaches of the South Shore, skip the crowds in Boston and on the Cape and meander down Rte 3A, stopping at each of these scenic towns. Soak up Quincy’s diversity, Hull’s beaches, Scituate’s Lighthouse, Duxbury’s oysters, and Plymouth’s history.
